Project Description:
Coding guru Derek Semmler approached me about starting up a business developing WordPress sites for people using the Thesis theme. It sounded like a great idea and so then he asked me to design the new site. I had the inspiration to give Team Thesis a retro diner look, as I could see people coming to us for unique designs like people come to the counter of an old diner to order meals.
I have a special love of old things and there’s just something about the style of the sixties that still fascinates me. Everything was bold and friendly and full of color and vibrance. To me the design styles of that period have always seemed wholesome and inviting. Like walking into your grandma’s kitchen and smelling her wonderful fresh baked apple pies.
I wanted this same feeling to permeate the Team Thesis design, so I set about researching elements to make it come alive. I found a wonderful old retro hot dog cooker, which gave me the inspiration for the layout, and some wonderful sixties period fonts and colors. I created a unique set of social icons just for Team Thesis and also some retro page icons to embellish certain sections on the site and give them their own unique flair.
Derek was quite pleased with the final design and it is now featured in the Thesis Gallery Showcase at DIY Themes.

It’s vital to establish your own unique identity, especially in this fast paced media world we live in. So whatever your design needs may be, 
I like the new site design. Using the cooker to inspire you was a smart idea. A lot of people don’t know what they want so maybe you can create some designs to sell but not publish the complete theme look since some people are able to hack them. Good luck with your new venture.
